Job Descriptions

Hours:

April 15th – Oct. 15th, 2019.

Full Time – Mon. – Fri. 8 hrs/day with the likelihood of overtime.

Compensation: $14 -$15 per hour, DOE.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the cultivation and upkeep of the landscaping and grounds surrounding a business or building.

  • Must have experience in Landscape Maintenance for lawns/landscape beds.
  • Ability to use hand or power tools & equipment to include walk behind mowers & zero turn riding mowers, trimmers, & backpack blowers.
  • Work typically involves a variety of the following: mowing, trimming, watering, fertilizing, weed removal, mulch installs, raking, parking lot trash removal etc.
  • Experience towing a trailer is a plus!
  • Aptitude to work as a team player in a team oriented environment.
  • The ideal candidate, for this position would be able to work year round doing landscape maintenance in the summer and snow removal in the winter months.
  • We are a drug free work place, random drug testing is performed.

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for directing 1 – 4 crew members in daily operations including quality control, training, punctuality and safety.  Candidates must also have strong organizational skills, ability to complete appropriate paperwork, and possess good leadership and communication skills.  The employee will provide quality service that meets or exceeds our customers’ and management’s expectations.  The employee will show attention to detail and effectively communicate with subordinates, peers and his/her supervisor.  All employees will possess a friendly, customer service minded attitude and will conduct themselves in a professional manner.  (Crew Lead reports directly to Owner.)

Compensation:

$17.00 – $20.00 per hour – DOE

Hours:

Monday – Friday 7:45AM – 4:45PM with the possibility of OT

Term:

April – October 15th or first snowfall.

Additional Employment:

Snowplowing/Loader/Shoveling experience with one – two years’ experience – Commercial / Retail Properties. October – April.

Requirements:

  • Two years’ experience with zero turn mowers, walk behind mowers, trimmers, hedgers, back pack blowers.
  • Two years’ experience working on Commercial/Retail Properties.
  • Two years’ supervisory experience.
  • Ability to lead, direct, motivate, and supervise while working.
  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License w/medical card and driving record is required.

Job Description:

  • Supporting the Owner in Daily/Weekly tasks:
  • Supervise daily preparation of trucks, equipment, and inventory.
  • Report 15 minutes prior to regular start time (8:00AM @ Anchorage Shop) to prepare/review the day’s work with the Owner, and prepare for the day.  First to report & last to leave each day.
  • Supervise & load all tools, gas, and other necessary equipment/materials. Secure all equipment safely. Helping as necessary.
  • Supervise checking truck oil, fluids, tire pressure, proper trailer connection, and all lights are in working condition.
  • Supervise & perform sharpening of lawn mower blades, adjusting mower height, etc.
  • Perform and manage landscape and maintenance tasks on client’s properties.
  • Work in conjunction with the Owner to ensure the work contracted is implemented efficiently and according to the contracted specifications.
  • Provide management and labor associated with maintenance of all lawns & landscape beds, including pruning.
  • Perform all tasks of operations including, but not limited to. mowing, line trimming, blowing, leaf and debris removal, weeding, edging, hedging, raking and mulch installation.
  • Provide “on the job” training to all crew members in safety, equipment, technique, etc.
  • Ability to coach members of the team as needed, and tracking the task.
  • Ability to fill out accident/incident report forms as needed.
  • Oversee proper safety equipment and personal protective equipment usage and practices of the crew.
  • Proactively address questions or concerns with the clients.  Communicate customer’s questions immediately to the Owner.  Update customer with the status of the work progress.
  • Complete time sheets for self & crew members.  Complete all job site reports & report all sales opportunities. Inventory and report materials used on the job that day.
  • Review the upcoming 2 week’s jobs and prepare for the following day’s jobs.
  • Unload/load equipment and material, clean out truck/trailer by removing trash, debris, etc. daily.
  • Wash dirty equipment (including all mower decks) and return to storage location.  Report damaged or broken equipment to your manager immediately to get parts on order.
  • Fill truck, mowers, equipment, and cans with gas in preparation for the next day (or as necessary).

TYPICAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time:

 • Standing and/or walking, including uneven surfaces (80-100%)

• Bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, shoveling

• Exposure to toxic substances

• Exposure to wind, rain, snow/ice, cold, heat

• Noise and vibrations from equipment

• Lifting up to 50 lbs., including carrying a 20-lb. backpack blower

Compensation: $18 – $20/Hour – DOE

Job Summary:

We have an immediate opening for one Sweeper Truck Operator to clean and maintain customers’ parking lots. The ideal candidate would be an experienced sweeping truck operator with knowledge of Snow & Ice Management operating a loader or plow truck.

Sweeping season will end October 15th or 1st snowfall, Snow & Ice Management season will start October 15th or 1st snowfall.

Our Sweeper Operators are high energy, self-starters that require little oversight. You will be using a handheld blower, operating a Skid Steer w/pick-up broom.

As one of our Sweeper Operators you will:

  • Work independently on parking lots at shopping centers, office complexes, restaurants, and retail centers at night.
  • Be committed, our Operators work in all weather conditions.
  • Get dirty; sometimes this job can be messy.
  • Get out of the truck numerous times (4 – 5x) a night to do blower work using a backpack blower and pick up trash.

The shifts we offer:

  • Range from 5 to 6 hours and start at 11:00P.M. Three nights a week.

Our Sweeper Operators should be able to:

  • Be on your feet for long periods of time and be able to lift or exert force up to 50 lbs.
  • Read, write and speak clear English that can be easily understood on cell phones.

To be considered for the position:

  • You will need a current Alaska Driver’s License and current medical card.
  • You should be persistently punctual.
  • Must have a smart phone and reliable transportation to work.
  • You must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and submit to random testing.

Starting compensation for Skid Steer Operator’s is $18.00/$20.00 per hour.
Starting compensation for Snow & Ice Management range for $18.00 /$30.00 per hour DOE’s

Loader Operator

Compensation: $20/ $23.00 per hour + OT – DOE

Terms: Available shifts 10PM – 9AM (hours are dependent on a 2″ snowfall)

Job Responsibilities

  • Include snow plowing of multi commercial parking lots using various snow pushers producing high-quality work results
  • Load out End Dumps & Semi Side Dumps
  • Scrape ice accumulations from commercial parking lots
  • Load out various materials 
  • Perform inspection of equipment to ensure proper working order, including checking fluid levels, condition of hoses, belts, tire pressure, brakes and lights
  • Assist in the preventive maintenance such as adding oil, greasing zerks, joints, changing bulbs, air filters, etc.

A Must

  • Must have the ability to work all hours of the day and night while on call, and be able to work safely, proficiently with quality results. 
  • This is an on call position – must be able to respond within one hour of a snowfall in Anchorage

  • Minimum 2 year commercial snow plowing experience.

  • Include operation of an articulating machine in a safe & efficient manner including towing trailer/parking/backing trailer – sweeping/blowing/plowing of multiple commercial sidewalks.

  • Include maintaining multiple commercial sites under the guidance of a supervisor relating to snow removal including keeping walkways clear by shoveling or operation of mechanical means, or deicing/salting of walkways.
  • Must have the ability to work all hours of the night while on call, and be able to work safely, proficiently with quality results.
  • Must be able to respond to call out within 1 hour.

Starting compensation for Sweeper Truck Operator is $18.00/$20.00 per hour.

Starting compensation for Snow & Ice Management range for $17.00 /$23.00 per hour DOE

Job Description:

  • Follows assigned route on assigned nights of the week.
  • Drives sweeping machine that cleans parking lot of trash and other accumulations: Fills water tank of machine from RED Top hydrants only.
  • Operator will use backpack blower to blow off store front walks and entrances on the 1st sweep of every week and the last sweep of every week. Will also involve blowing of parking lot corners, cart corrals and round the back of building edges on the 2nd & 4th week of every month.
  • Drives sweeper along parking lot curbs, parking spaces, drive lanes, loading dock areas, entrances and fuel centers.
  • Moves controls to activate rotary brushes, pick up head and water spray so that machine automatically picks up dust and trash from paved parking lot and deposits it in dirt trap at rear of machine.
  • Pulls lever to dump refuse in pit at Anchorage shop.
  • May drive machine that sucks leaves into vacuum chamber and be designated Leaf-Sucker Operator.
  • Cleans and details machine at Anchorage shop every week – Involves cleaning windows, two screens, and removes mud or other build up from inside & outside hopper. Remove inspection plate on blower fan, check for and or remove debris. Check drive belt for blower fan, to make sure it is tight. Check all fluids and auxiliary engine. Check all other items on truck to make sure it is ready for the next sweep or can pass an inspection at the scales.
  • Check all lights, mirrors, wipers, tires, horn, and air break system.
  • Operator is responsible to keep inside of cab, clean and free of trash on a daily basis. As well as wash the outside of machine once a week.
  • Operator is to re-fuel machine before returning to Anchorage shop after ever shift.
  • Operator is required to turn in fuel receipts on a daily basis.
  • Operator is to notify Operations Manager & Owner of Company, if he or she receives any citations or complaints.
  • Operator is required to carry their CDL Drivers license, medical card and check that the vehicle registration is valid at all times.
  • Operator is required to complete and turn in all VIR (Vehicle Inspection Reports) daily.
  • Operator is responsible to keep the workplace cleaner than it was prior to shift.
